Mommy, Hold Me!

Mommy, hold me!” was the request made by my four year old daughter this past week as we were scurrying to prepare to leave the house. As I gazed down at her I knew this was a moment I could practice what God had been sharing with me – the grace of generosity! I swept her up in my arms, gave her a hug and let her know I loved her. After a few moments, she was ready to get down and we were off and running for the day. I share that moment from my day, not to pat myself on the back, for there have been many missed moments of grace and generosity, but to encourage us as homeschooling moms to embrace and yes, choose the grace of generosity. As I was thinking about that this morning, I felt God share a few passages with me that I wanted to share with you.

Romans 5:8 is an impelling verse - “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Recently we were reading the account of Stephen's martyrdom in Acts. How amazing it was to read about his forgiveness to his attackers, while being stoned to death! Yes, that puts my daily pet peeves into perspective! But, it also reminds me of God's grace when I reach out to Him.

Proverbs 11:24, 25 state - “One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” As I consider my children and our homeschooling, these verses encourage me to embrace the grace of generosity.

Going with God,

Deborah Randall
